# How to tell if a product requires a prescription

At Pet Chemist we provide both prescription medications that need a prescription to dispense, and over the counter products (OTC) where no prescription is required.

You can check if a product requires a prescription by reading the product information on the product page.

When a prescription IS required we will request information about the prescription (pet name on script) before you can add the product to your cart.

Over the counter products have no mention of a prescription being required on the product page, so you can add them straight to your cart.
