How to Tell if You Need a Prescription for a Product

At Pet Chemist, we offer both prescription-only medications and over-the-counter healthcare products for pets. Here’s how to determine whether a product requires a prescription or not:

Steps to Check Prescription Requirements

1. Search for the Product: Use the search box on the Pet Chemist website to find the product you’re looking for.

   

2. Check the Product Page:

   • If the product requires a prescription, you’ll see Prescription Medication information listed on the page.

   • If a prescription is required, you can place the order and upload your original, signed prescription after checkout. The prescription must be on file before we can dispatch the medication.

     

3. No Prescription Required:

   • If there is no mention of a prescription requirement, the product is considered an “over-the-counter” item. No prescription is needed to process your order.

Examples of over-the-counter products include Pro Kolin, Synbiotic D-C, and various flea, tick, and worm treatments.

• What if I don’t have a prescription for a prescription-only product?

  If you don’t have a prescription, we cannot process the order for that product. You will need to consult your veterinarian to obtain one.

• Can I upload my prescription after placing the order?

  Yes, you can upload your prescription after checkout, but we can’t dispatch the medication until the original signed prescription is on file.
